We present a GeoExpedition at Torrecillas, an awesome place at Estero EL Manzano, Cajón del Maipo, next to Santiago, Chile. It is a classic multi-pitch sport climbing zone in a volcanic tuff, where we explain some geological feature during our expedition.
We present a GeoExpedition at Mirador de Cóndores, an awesome place at Río Colorado, Cajón del Maipo, next to Santiago, Chile. It is a 2-3 hrs walk in a volcanic and volcaniclastic sequence, where we explain some geological feature during our expedition.
On August 29, 2019, in the Reserva Elemental Likandes (Road to Lagunillas), the book “Geodiversity, Geological Heritage and Geosites of the Cajón del Maipo” was launched. This book is an update of geosites that contained the original work of the Geosites inventory of the memory of José Venado, entitled ‘Geological Read more…

We contribute in a new paper about Melimoyu Volcano, a spectacular volcano in Chilean Patagonia. Almost unknown, Melimoyu Volcano is a giant stratovolcano from almost the sea level up to 7900 ft (2408 m) a.s.l., with a volume of about ~142 km3! This giant volcano is constituted by basalt, andesite Read more…
We presentin the first paper resulting from our research project entitled ‘The role ofshallow magma reservoirs during formation of giant ore deposits’. The paper was published in the prestigiousjournal ‘Geology‘ with the title ‘Lateral magma propagation during theemplacement of La Gloria Pluton, central Chile’. Authors belongs to GeoExpedition (Chile), ETHZürich Read more…
GeoExpedition participated in the SOTA 7 ‘Stateof the Arc Meeting’ between September 1th and 8th in San Pedro deAtacama, Chile. This conference is supported financially by the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) trough the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior (IAVCEI).
